Conejo Valley Gardening Club Calendar
CVGC Meetings are held on the 4th Wednesday of the month from September thru May, unless it is a holiday month where we meet on the 3rd Wednesday of the month. The meetings are usually held at The First Methodist Church, in classrooms 11 & 12, 1000 E. Janss Rd. Thousand Oaks 91360 The Business Meeting is at 10:00 a.m. followed by refreshments and a program. The meetings include speakers on a variety of subjects from bees, to planting, Chumash Indian medicines, pollinators for the garden, water conservation, and other gardening-related topics. We also have hands-on workshops and at least one local garden tour during our club year.

SEPTEMBER MEETING - GENERAL MEETING

10:00AM at King Gillette Ranch, Calabasas at 26876 Mulholland Highway
We will be at the Santa Monica Mountains Interagency Visitor Center. 805-370-2301
We will gather at 10:00 AM in the front courtyard by the museum entrance and have a Ranger introduction to the property and talk a little about the native garden.
We can then visit the museum with a movie explanation and several rooms of displays.
The park service displays the work of a local artist in their gift shop for your enjoyment and purchase.
Around 11:30, we will meet to the left of the building under the oak trees on the picnic benches
for a short business meeting vote on the budget and then enjoy your brown bag lunch.

9:30 AM Bring horticulture specimens
10:00 AM business meeting at followed by horticulture judging and coffee break.
11:00 AM Program: “What’s Growing at your Local School” by Ziva Santop,
School Garden Specialist at Willow, Sumac and Mariposa Schools will present.
In addition, we have Lena Fujikake from Ladera School.
Lena will discuss how the literature of Peter Rabbit is woven into the garden and
how the struggles of the pilgrims are experienced in the 5th grade gardens.

11:00 AM Program- Our member Judy, will share her passion of dry, pressed flowers with us.
She will explain the process and give hints on how to create lovely memory pieces with them.

We will have Rick Herrera give us information and discuss fertilizers
He will explaining the number system and how you need to meet the needs of your plants.
He will bring along some roses to illustrate the pruning care of them.
APRIL MEETING - GENERAL MEETING
Wednesday, April 23, 2025
At 10:00AM, we will meet in the parking lot of the United Methodist Church
for a short business meeting to elect officers and then car pool for a field trip.
We will know on March 1st if slots for Apricot Farm open up, this is our first choice.
If no slots are available we will visit Descanso Garden.
